INMATEC uses 100% green electricity to protect the climate and the environment

Climate and environmental sustainability play a key role for Inmatec. The market-leading manufacturer of nitrogen and oxygen generators based in Herrsching am Ammersee is switching to 100% green electricity to supply the entire organisational structure and production. This makes it possible for the company to save almost 200 tons of CO2 per year.

Inmatec has installed almost 8,000 nitrogen and oxygen production plants across the globe. The generators and special plants are produced at the factory in Herrsching. Producing the systems and supplying electricity to the offices consumes approx. 320,000 KWh of electricity per year. In order to contribute to climate and environmental protection, the company is supplying itself with green electricity from 100% hydropower as of 1 January 2020. A conventional electricity mixture includes the combustion of fossil fuels such as lignite, hard coal and natural gas as well as the use of nuclear energy. To date, roughly 190 tons of CO2 have been produced per year, based on the calculations of the International Economic Forum for Renewable Energies (IWR). To put this in perspective: one German citizen is responsible for one ton of CO2 emissions per year through their private electricity consumption. Almost 100% of CO2 emissions can be saved by switching to electricity from hydropower. With 3 grams of CO2 per KWh, hydropower is considered to be one of the cleanest forms of electricity generation. Thanks to this innovation, Inmatec is helping to conserve the world's coal, oil and gas reserves and to advance the energy revolution without CO2 emissions and radioactive waste. Inmatec gave due consideration to "tested climate neutrality" when selecting the electricity supplier. The future-oriented, ecological and sustainable form of electricity production is certified by TÜV.

Environmentally friendly products by Inmatec protect the environment across the globe

Inmatec nitrogen and oxygen generators are used in a wide variety of industries. They make an active contribution to protecting the environment for thousands of customers around the world by making it possible for high-purity nitrogen and oxygen to be produced on-site from the ambient air. There is no need for long-distance deliveries by truck.

Numerous companies from the oil and gas industry, pharmaceutical and plastics industry, electronics production and metal industry, to name but a few, use nitrogen to create an artificial atmosphere without oxygen to manufacture their products. This is used to prevent explosions or oxidations and to improve product quality, for example. Pure oxygen is mainly used in hospitals, animal clinics and fish farms for ventilation and breeding. However, oxygen also plays an important role in many technical procedures for producing glass, metal, medicines and many other products.

Inmatec generators produce both gases directly on-site as part of what is referred to as the pressure swing process. The oxygen and nitrogen molecules from the ambient air are separated from each other using innovative filters. This allows the required quantity of gas to be produced directly in the hospital or in the production hall. Gas-filled cylinders or bundles are normally delivered to companies by truck, often over long distances and several times a week. Also, the delivery of large quantities of gas for filling tanks by tanker trucks is common in many places. Oxygen and nitrogen production on-site eliminates the need for such a delivery. This saves large amounts of CO2, prevents the development of particulate matter and eases congestion on the roads by reducing heavy traffic.
