Oxygen supply for Peru: oxygen generator for Covid-19 patients

Center for Attention and Temporary Isolation in Pichanaqui goes into operation with Inmatec oxygen generator

The organization Legado Lima 2019 has set up a Center for Attention and Temporary Isolation (CAAT) for treating Covid-19 patients in the city of Pichanaqui. The center with an area of 2,000 m² was built due to the rapidly increasing number of corona infections in the Junin region (39,000 inhabitants). It has 50 hospital beds and state-of-the-art equipment for treating Covid patients. Each patient can be supplied with oxygen 24 hours a day. The oxygen required for this is produced in the required quantity directly on site with an Inmatec oxygen generator POC 8400 Med.

The attendees of the inauguration ceremony included Carlos Estremadoyro, Minister of Transport and Communications, Ana Neyra, Minister of Justice and Human Rights, Fernando Orihuela, Regional Governor of Junín, Raúl Aliaga, Mayor of Pichanaqui and the Deputy Director of Infrastructure of the Legado Project, Roberto Von.

“Today we are handing over this CAAT with our own oxygen system with which we can not only supply the 50 hospital beds, but also fill backup bottles so that there is enough oxygen to supply all Covid-19 patients. It is the first CAAT to have such an oxygen system installed by Legado and it will stay here as long as it is needed”, Minister Estremadoyro said at the opening ceremony.

“The system can generate 24 cubic meters of oxygen per hour and is connected to a distribution network that supplies every hospital bed. The advantage of having our own oxygen production facility is that we do not have to rely on external supplies. Oxygen is generated using the ambient air and in this way we can ensure continuity in the care of patients affected by the coronavirus", said Roberto Von, Director of Infrastructure for the Legado Project.

The medical oxygen continuously generated with the help of the POC 8400 Med has a purity of 95%. In addition, there is a reserve of 48 oxygen bottles with a capacity of 6 m³. These are filled with the help of a booster via the oxygen generator. In this way, each patient can be treated with up to 15 liters of oxygen per minute.
