Nitrogen for crushing materials

Jet mills are used to grind and crush products in the pharmaceutical and food industries, for example. In this context, pressure is used to press a gas into the mill at high speed. This is done to generate a gas flow. The materials circulating in the mill collide with the mill wall and with each other and disintegrate into ultrafine particles. Contact with oxygen can result in a dangerous, flammable mixture in the mill. The use of nitrogen as a grinding and inert gas makes it possible to prevent explosions, effectively, in the resulting dust atmosphere.
