Soldering machine manufacturer produces N2 with PSA and hydrogen technology

Nitrogen (N2) is used in electronics manufacturing for various soldering processes. The inert gas prevents oxidation at the soldering points, e.g. on circuit boards, and thus contributes to a high product quality. A German soldering system manufacturer is now testing various soldering processes with the addition of nitrogen in its soldering systems. The N2 is to be generated by an Inmatec PN 1650 KomPact. The compact solution uses, among other things, hydrogen to generate pure nitrogen and thus saves energy costs.

The KomPact system consists of a nitrogen generator, hydrogen catalyst and product container. The system generates N2 with a purity of 99.9% (3.0) in an amount of 23.2 Nm3 / h. Finally, the nitrogen is enriched with tiny amounts of hydrogen in an IMT NKat 40 catalyst and purified to a purity of 99.999% (5.0). This innovative process makes it possible to generate nitrogen with less compressed air and thus lower energy costs. Thanks to the Auto Pure Systems for automatic flushing, commissioning the system is extremely easy.

Electronic assemblies are manufactured in the context of SMD and THT production under a protective gas atmosphere. The exclusion of oxygen around the soldering tool reduces oxidation, leads to better wetting of the soldering point and reduced formation of residues and defects. Numerous customers produce their nitrogen for electronics production with Inmatec nitrogen generators on site. For this purpose, Inmatec also works in partnership with various soldering system manufacturers.

The IMT PN 1650 KomPact system is now being used by a soldering system manufacturer and long-term business partner in its reflow, selective and wave soldering systems. The system manufacturer wants to optimize the automatic supply of N2 for soldering processes in its systems. The aim is to be able to offer customers in the field of electronics production even better and more energy-efficient systems for component production in the future. The IMT PN 1650 KomPact will be delivered to our customer in the next few days.
