The hospital would be built in a very remote area of India, in a rugged, high mountainous valley. Kargil is a town that lies in the Himalayas, precisely in the Zaskar Range. These mountains are in the western part of the Ladakh region and part of the Jammu and Kashmir state of Indian administered Kashmir. Kargil has the reputation of being the world’s second coldest inhabitant place, just after Siberia in Russia with winter temperatures of -48°C (-54°F) or even colder. It is further combined with an average height over sea level of 2,676 m (8,780 feet) and the seasonal fluctuation of a dry, desert - arctic climate reaching summer heights of +35°C (95°F). Heavy snowfall is experienced in winter, regular 5m with no open winter roads for supplies or transport.
